Golda Schultz is in Cape Town to sing the role of Countess Almaviva in Cape Town Opera’s Le Nozze di Figaro.  Golda came to international attention when she made her European debut in the same role at the Bayerische Staatsoper in May 2012 whilst still a member  of the company’s Opernstudio.   Der Neue Merker wrote of that performance: ‘She mastered this opportunity with bravura. With her warm, clear and richly nuanced voice and her fresh, youthful acting she captivated the public from the first moment…. an altogether auspicious debut’.

Golda spent the 2013/14 season as a member of the ensemble of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt where her roles included Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare) and Ninette (The Love for Three Oranges). She also made her debut with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen on tour to Japan as Marzelline (Fidelio) under Paavo Jarvi. She returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper to join the ensemble, having already sung such roles as Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), Elisabeth (Elegie fur junge Liebende), Inez (Il Trovatore), Taumannchen (Hansel und Gretel) and the High Priestess ( Aida) as a member of their opera studio.
