Ingo Dannhorn Piano
The first soiree in the Richard Wagner Society’s calendar features the foremost German pianist Ingo Dannhorn, a popular pianist in the Wagner series. He will give the recital on Sunday, February 11, in an intimate hauskonsert at Kingsgate, Beach Road, Sea Point and play the Beethoven Waldheim Sonata and the Brahms /Haydn Variations.
Dannhorn has been placed alongside artists such as Lars Vogt and Jan Gottlieb Jiracek, and he is the winner of several prizes such as the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, the Sydney International Piano Competition and an international competition in Salzburg. According to German pianist Gerhard Oppitz, his technical skills are brilliant and he has “an ideal combination of intelligence and highly developed sensitivity to tonal nuance.”
Dannhorn, who studied in Munich, plays in chamber concerts (he has collaborated with Vengerov, for instance) and recitals around the world and he is a sought after partner for lieder recitals with singers such as Jose Cura. He currently teachers in Seoul.
