The Richard Wagner Society, established in 1984 with affiliation to the International Association of Wagner Societies, aims to contribute to the music culture of South Africa by:
Deepening the understanding and knowledge of the music of Wagner, and other composers
Supporting the next generation by nurturing emerging artists from diverse cultures through performance opportunities in concert, recital and opera to help them gain exposure and confidence
Assisting young South African musicians to gain educational opportunities overseas and compete internationally
Collaborating with existing musical structures both locally and internationally
Facilitating attendance of members at the annual Bayreuth Festival

The Richard Wagner Society of South Africa assists the development of young opera singers and instrumental musicians through performance opportunities and financial assistance.
The Society is a registered Non-Profit Company with Public Benefit status
